Why Organic Mung Beans Are Temporarily Unavailable | Honest to Goodness

Do you have any Organic Mung Beans?

This season (2025) unfortunately brought a complete crop failure of organic mung beans from our regular supplier. Just as the beans reached harvest maturity, an intense rainstorm delivered over 120mm of rain in just two hours. This caused the entire crop to sprout and spoil in the field, making it unsalvageable.

We explored alternatives, including sourcing from overseas. However, strict Australian import regulations around mung beans mean that international supply isn’t a viable option at this time.

This season has been particularly challenging for farmers across Australia, with widespread weather extremes, from flooding in the north to drought conditions in the south. These broader conditions have made local sourcing even more difficult.

As a result, we don’t expect to have organic mung beans available again until later in 2026.  We understand this may be disappointing for many of our customers. We appreciate your understanding, and remain committed to working closely with our growers as they recover and rebuild for future seasons.
