There are various reasons why we might need to change one of our suppliers throughout the year, especially when dealing with imported products. However, we aim to remain consistent with our supply where possible.
We're not able source all of our conventional and organic products from Australia. Our growing conditions are not ideal for everything and some products are not native to, or available in Australia.
It's important to us, to ensure we maintain long lasting, genuine relationships with our suppliers. Many have worked with Honest to Goodness for a number of years.
Most of our products are seasonal. Whether it's within Australia or abroad, environmental factors can impact our supply. Farmers can experience extreme weather conditions year to year, such as flooding, drought or extreme frost. This can result in failed crops or poor quality produce. If the main country of origin's supply is affected, this can cause global shortages and increased costs and higher demand with any one product. In this case, we may need to look elsewhere for a period of time, until the following years harvest.
Rising costs can be a factor. To avoid passing extreme price increases onto our customers, we may need to source a temporary or permanent supply of product, from a supplier that can offer a fairer price and product of the same quality.
Over the last few years we've experienced international freight delays and quarantine restrictions from our supplier's country of origin. We've attempt to source an alternate supply but in some cases, this was not possible.
We are conservative when selecting a new supplier. We test the product to ensure the flavour, colour and consistency is as close as possible to the original supply. Unfortunately it may not be exact.
We are always working with our trusted suppliers to ensure we are sourcing premium quality products at a reasonable price. In most cases, we return to our original suppliers where possible, with the products that our customers know and love.
