What's the difference between golden and brown linseed?
Also known as flaxseed, golden linseeds and brown linseeds can be used in the same way. The difference between golden and brown flaxseed is minimal and comes down to their macronutrient and antioxidant contents.
Some studies show that compared to brown linseed, golden linseed is made up of a marginally lower percentage of healthy fats and protein, yet a fraction higher in carbohydrates. Golden linseeds also have larger amounts of the two essential fats: alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and linoleic acid. However, studies also show that brown linseed has a slightly higher concentration of antioxidants.
Whichever one you choose, you're sure to get a boost of essential goodness!
